Francesca “Fran” Marotta of Everett died on Saturday, October 24, 2026. She was 91.
She was born in Boston to Vincenzo and Rosaria Costa, who had both come from Italy, and grew up in a house with seven brothers and one sister. She married Richard Marotta, and the two were together for 70 years until his death in 2024. Their son John also died before her.
Golf was her lifelong game, and she played as often as she could. Away from the course she cooked, played cards and kept a large circle of family and friends who knew her for a sharp wit and a competitive streak.
She leaves her daughter, Carol-Anna Fama; her son David Marotta and his wife Annamarie; her daughter-in-law Andrea Marotta; her grandchildren Danae Gagnon, Justin Marotta, David Marotta Jr., Olivia Marotta and John Marotta Jr.; her great-grandchildren Gregory Gagnon Jr., Giovanni Marotta and Audriana Marotta; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours are Wednesday, November 4 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Solimine Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Route 129), Lynn, followed at noon by a funeral service for both Fran and Richard. Burial follows at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
